Description

You won't see the Hampton Console Table Bookcase - Black in any of your friends' homes - unless you tell them you found it at Hayneedle. It's a Hayneedle exclusive, so you can be sure it's just as original as your decorating personality. Two long shelves each feature three cubby compartments, providing plenty of room for your books, DVDs, CDs, curios, and much more. Each compartment has a cord/wire management hole in the back, so hooking up and moving electronics is a snap.


Constructed with a solid birch wood frame in a dramatic ebony black finish, this console table bookcase has strong, engineered wood (MDF) shelves and compartment dividers in matching black finish. The genuine veneer top also has a black finish for a cohesive, contemporary look that will add richness to your decor. The sides of the unit have a modern X design that adds an eye-catching element to the console table's sturdy structure. Recommendation is not to stack more than 2 units. Assembly required.

I just totally redecorated my computer room and this piece was a great addition. I was looking for something that was stylish, black, and was high quality. I'm familiar with this brand because, I've bought two tv stands already so... I already knew what to expect when I got it. It was very easy to put together and is very sturdy. It is made out of REAL wood, not like that stuff you would buy from a department store. You know how you look at some black furniture and color look off... you're NOT going to get that with this piece. The color is truly black with a very smooth feel to it. There's nothing I can say wrong about this piece EXCELLENT!

    As with other assembly required items, the instructions came with an itemized list of required pieces. However, mine came with 3 pieces of one part when I only needed 2 and was missing 1 very important piece. The bookcase was impossible to assemble without the missing piece. I had to call customer service, but they couldn't simply send me the piece I needed. They had to refund my money, email me a return shipping label, and I had to wait 3 days for the credit to post back to my credit card before I could re-order the bookcase. The customer service agent did say that she would have the warehouse inspect the next shipment to ensure that all of the correct pieces are there. It just seems that if you're charging [$] for a piece of "quality" furniture, more care should be used when boxing it up.

    Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    We have this as a TV stand in our living room, and as a bookcase in the same room (opposite wall). We plan to stack them at some point, when we find a more permanent TV stand. So far, they look great. Just let the boxes air out in the garage before assembly. They smell funny at first.
