Packaging was excellent, double boxed and banded which was great since the outer box had some dings and rips but the bookcase didn't have any marks. Assembly will take some time - take a deep breath and grab your patience, although it didn't take my hubby and I the half day noted in the instructions but rather about an hour and half. The instructions were straight forward although I wouldn't use a drill for assembly since the bookcase isn't solid wood and would have pulled off the veneer way to easily. I did see some veneer pull back when screwing in but with the cover-ups, no problem. Could have used a little more glue for the dowels but we probably were just a little heavy-handed with early assembly.

I am so pleased with these book cases. We purchased two black cases to sit side-by-side to create one large book case. The building process was very simple. I did one with my husband which made it a bit faster--but set up the second one by myself in a little over 90 minutes. The package was easy to unpack, press board is very sturdy and solid--and they are great looking. For under $200 a piece plus free shipping--these put anything you get at IKEA to shame. I know we looked and gave up!
I am VERY, VERY pleased with this purchase and will check Hayneedle first every time I am looking for this type of furniture. Thank you very much!

I will be using these bookcases (two) in the living room for books and display items.The quality is very good, except that the screw hole covers are a tacky piece of sticky paper. Even [@] patio furniture has wooden dowelsfor the screw covers.
