The Remmington Heavy Duty Bookcase with Reinforced Shelves - Oak is constructed of wood veneers with a classic oak finish to compliment the rest of the room you display it in. It boasts an attractive traditional style that is sure to bring an inviting feeling. You can choose from a variety of sizes and shelves depending on your needs. Its functional and provides a stylish space for storage in your home.

Each bookcase option features shelves measuring .60 inches thick, some of which are adjustable. Adjustable shelves can move up or down two inches. Each shelf has been tested to support up to 150 pounds with even weight distribution. Steel-reinforced rods are screwed (not stapled) into the shelves for superior strength. The bookcase is finished in a beautifully rich oak finish. (The back is unfinished.)

Not glamorous but just what I'd hoped for. Not too expensive, sturdy (36'' high version), practical shelf height and easy to assemble. They are made of particle board though, and two small pieces of veneer came off when I didnt get two of the screws aligned properly. They came through in a place where the books hide the fault. I've got two more to assemble so I think I know what I'm doing now. All the pieces are well labelled and the pictures of the directions are good. This is just not something I've done before. The bookcase looks like the ones in the public library which is fine for me.

Fixed shelves mean that if you have tall books, they probably aren't going to fit. The pieces came together well and seem to be cut precisely for the most part.

It uses the cam-lock into pressboard style of construction that you see on cheap furniture. Because of this, it isn't quite as solid as it could be. It's still miles ahead of thing kind of thing you can get at big box retailers.

I called customer service about the damaged wooden parts. I was told that the supplier does not offer replacement parts, and that the entire product would have to be returned. Because of the size and weight, that was not possible. I kept the damaged units and spent additional monies to repair the damaged parts. I will send photos to customer service. I expect to be compensated for receiving products that are not first-quality.

Service and delivery comments:

I ordered 3 bookcases, 84 inches each. The weight of each box is approx 100 pounds. They all arrived with concealed shipping damage to the wooden parts. There was no way to assess the damage until all the parts were removed from the boxes. I kept the product because it was impossible to repack and ship back.

Unfortunately, it would have been too hard to return the bookcases as the packaging arrived completely broken apart. The bookcases were damaged, chipped and warped. There were also many screws missing and the pegs were not the right size. We are so disappointed. This product should be discontinued. Terrible quality.

Packaging was poor even on last shipment where it was supposed to be given extra care. The poor pacjaging led to damage on one mail rail and three shelves. A little extra care would give this product a 5.

Packaging was an issue. One of the bookcases had to be returned because it was damaged in shipping. I am not sure how the other two arrived in one piece the carton was so badly torn apart.

The service and product are great. Shipping however, let the package out in a torn and rough shape . One of the units had to be sent back and replaced because of this.
