I only had one place in my apartment where I could fit in badly needed bookcases. That was under the lip of the bar between kitchen and living. Two of the 36-inch tall bookcases fit perfectly. I decided I wanted black ones, so I fiddled with the paint job for weeks. Actually putting them together was a speedy operation, but not without its problems. Even though these are solid wood, in terms of craftsmanship, these are not of the same quality as Sauder. Nor are they even as good as [@]. The same four screws were missing from both bookcases. I used screws that were intended to fix the back and then used tacks to complete that task. The instructions were missing from one of the boxes. Hayneedle were speedy at emailing a set to me (then later discovered the second box had instructions). The horizontal pieces that form a lip at the top and close the space below the bottom shelf do not completely close the gap. It's not that noticeable, just another indication of the mediocre craftsmanship. It probably took 45 minutes to put both of them together, and I'm slow at these sorts of tasks. These bookcases appear to be copies of a much more expensive line, and these two lines are the only ones I could find that had 36-inch high models. I ordered the cherry, and the finish was nice. However, I did paint them black because it looked better in my space. I'm satisfied with the appearance and the price, though somewhat disappointed with the overall quality of the kit. And by the way, it's hard to get three high-enough shelves in only 36 inches. But that was all I had space for.

I read a couple of the horror stories about the broken pieces and damaged boxes the product came in but I took the plunge anyway. Beautiful cherry color, nice deep adjustable shelves. There were a few things in the directions that didn't make sense as to when a piece should be attached, like the bottom decorative bar (G, I think), that was to be attached after the bottom shelf was attached to the rest of the frame. All parts were included but the allen wrench was useless. You're better off tightening the cam-locks with the phillips head screw driver.

Used for light reading material and display nicknacks. Book cases are not able to support heavy items as advertised. One collasped. The color is acurate

These are nice shelves for the money. Easy to assemble. I ordered two, and one of them was damaged from delivery. Had to use a furniture touch-up marker on it to cover the damage.

We bought this bookcase to store art books in my husband's art studio. Having shelves that are reinforced and hold heavy books is a real plus. Our last bookcase purchase did not last as the shelves bowed. Great product. Relatively easy to put together.
