Although covered in a traditional finish, the Remmington Heavy Duty Bookcase With Reinforced Shelves - Oak will look right at home in both conventional and modern settings, thanks to clean edges and a simple design. Constructed from genuine wood veneers and durable engineered wood (MDF), this commercial-quality bookcase is built for strength and durability. Found exclusively at Hayneedle, it comes in a variety of sizes to suit your storage and display needs. Each bookcase option features three shelves, each measuring .60 inches thick, two of which are adjustable. The two adjustable shelves can move up or down two inches. Each shelf has been tested to support up to 120 pounds with even weight distribution. Steel-reinforced rods are screwed (not stapled) into the shelves for superior strength. The bookcase is finished in a beautifully rich oak finish. (The back is unfinished.)

Not glamorous but just what I'd hoped for. Not too expensive, sturdy (36'' high version), practical shelf height and easy to assemble. They are made of particle board though, and two small pieces of veneer came off when I didnt get two of the screws aligned properly. They came through in a place where the books hide the fault. I've got two more to assemble so I think I know what I'm doing now. All the pieces are well labelled and the pictures of the directions are good. This is just not something I've done before. The bookcase looks like the ones in the public library which is fine for me.

Fixed shelves mean that if you have tall books, they probably aren't going to fit. The pieces came together well and seem to be cut precisely for the most part.

It uses the cam-lock into pressboard style of construction that you see on cheap furniture. Because of this, it isn't quite as solid as it could be. It's still miles ahead of thing kind of thing you can get at big box retailers.

        So easy to assemble.
        Very impressed with the backing it fit so good in the groove on the back, none of that cardboard stuff. Everything fit together nicely.

        Wish we had some inserts to cover the wholes not used on the adjustable shelfs.
